Jim was born in Toronto in 1952, later moving to Alberta in 1967. Upon arriving in Alberta, Jim attended Henry Wise Wood and Lord Beaverbrook High School, finishing his education at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Jim moved to southern Alberta in 1975, finally settling in Claresholm in 1990, where he worked as Alberta sales manager for 17 years
Jim has been married to Mary Daku-Walker for 14 years, and has four children, ranging in age from 20 to 31 years of age.
Although presently semi retired, Jim has had significant experience running a small business, having operated three Curves franchises with his wife Mary in the last four years. The Walkers have recently sold 2 of them and are in the process of selling the last one,
Jim's key concerns are the tax and paper work load on small business, along with the unfairness of the current Canada Pension Plan to our young people.
Jim is also greatly concerned about the amount of taxes Albertans send to Ottawa compared to the services we receive in return.
"Albertans send $1.5 million per hour 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. This is 11.1 billion a year in excess of what we receive. That is equal to $12 per day for every man, woman and child in Alberta, or $4380 per person per year to live in Canada. NO OTHER CANADIANS SACRIFICE THIS AMOUNT. "
