PRESS RELEASE - Separatists attack Canmore Administration Separation Party of Alberta Red Deer, Alberta: September 22, 2004, Separatists attack Canmore Administration. The Separation Party of Alberta (SPA) has registered a formal complaint with the Alberta Human Rights and Citizenship Commission against the Town of Canmore for refusing to rent the Civic Centre to SPA. "We could have simply rented another location," said Bruce Hutton, Leader of the Party, "but that would have allowed the Canmore Administration to discriminate against a group that was not aligned with them politically. This is totally unacceptable." The Town of Canmore had rented the Civic Centre to SPA and when Council discovered that the renter was a separation party they refused to honor the contract. "They seem to forget that ALL Albertans are supposed to be equal and have equal opportunity and equal right of expression," fumed Hutton. Hutton indicated SPA would be willing to withdraw the complaint when the Town apologizes publicly in the local paper and takes out a full page ad on behalf of SPA, announcing the upcoming SPA meeting that will be held in the Canmore Civic Centre.
